Temple History and Timings

Chintaman Ganesh temple is the biggest Lord Ganesha temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This temple is located around 7km southwest of Ujjain, on the Fatehabad rail route, across the Kshipra River. The temple is located in the city centre. In this temple, the idol of Lord Ganesha is self-manifested (Swayambhu). He is known as Chintamani because he relieves all the worries with his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi. He is well-revered as the Lord of beginnings. He is known for removing all worries in traditional times. A huge population gathers at the temple to get rid of all their worries.

 

Lord Vishnu is also known as Chintamani, who preserves the universe in Hindu mythology. Ganesha is also known as the moderator of grief, Vighneshwara, and is the first deity who is worshipped to sow obstacles on the path of the devotee. The temple was built during the Paramara rule in Malwa in the 11th and 12th centuries. Legends had it that the temple was originally built by Mata Sita during the Ramayana age. The ancient sanctity of the sanctum can be observed in the white shrine and stone pillars in the assembly hall, which are well-carved.

By Air – Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Indore, is the closest airport, located around 60 km from Ujjain. One can reach the temple through taxis and buses available from the airport.
